Job summary

GSL Education is seeking a Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a Boston-based school. The role focuses on pupils requiring additional behavioural, emotional or pastoral support, with opportunities to develop positive behaviours and engagement.

You will work alongside teaching and pastoral staff, building calm, consistent approaches and helping pupils re-engage with learning while supporting their social skills and confidence.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour.
• Experience in school, alternative provision, youth work or similar setting.
• Patient and able to remain calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted one-to-one and small-group support to pupils.
• Help pupils manage challenging behaviour and emotional responses.
• Encourage positive behaviour and reinforce clear boundaries and expectations.
• Build trusting and supportive relationships with pupils.
• Use calm and consistent approaches when dealing with difficult situations.
• Help pupils re-engage with learning following behavioural incidents.
• Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to monitor pupil progress.
• Support pupils in developing confidence, independence and appropriate social skills.
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.
