Job summary

GSL Education - South Yorkshire is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support professional for a secondary school in Sheffield. You will support pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4 with behaviour management, engagement and emotional regulation, working with teachers to maintain focus and participation in lessons.

The role involves one-to-one and small-group support, helping pupils transition between lessons and school areas, and promoting positive behaviour and decision making. Start date September 2026.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with behaviour is desirable.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• A calm, patient and consistent approach when managing challenging situations.
• Confidence working with adolescent learners in a secondary school environment.
• Ability to establish appropriate boundaries while maintaining positive relationships.
• A genuine commitment to helping young people engage with education.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4 with behaviour, engagement and emotional regulation.
• Work alongside subject teachers to help pupils remain focused and involved in lessons.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support where appropriate.
• Help pupils manage transitions between lessons and different areas of the school.
• Encourage positive behaviour and reinforce clear, consistent boundaries.
• Support pupils in developing strategies to manage their behaviour and make positive choices.
• Communicate relevant observations and concerns to teaching and pastoral staff.
