Job summary

Cover People are seeking a confident, energetic and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Salford. This is an exciting opportunity to make a genuine difference to pupils who need additional support with their behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning.

No two days will be the same as you build positive relationships, support learners during lessons and transitions, and work closely with teachers, SEND staff and pastoral leaders to help pupils

Responsibilities

• Support pupils one-to-one and in small groups.
• Help children manage emotions and make positive choices.
• Use behaviour-management and de-escalation strategies.
• Encourage pupils to engage confidently with learning.
• Provide consistent expectations, routines and boundaries.
• Support pupils during lessons, transitions and breaktimes.
• Work with teachers, SEND staff and pastoral leaders.

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

This is an exciting opportunity to make a genuine difference to pupils who need additional support with their behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning.

No two days will be the same! You’ll build positive relationships, celebrate progress and help pupils overcome the barriers preventing them from reaching their potential.

What will you be doing?

• Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
• Helping children manage their emotions and make positive choices
• Using effective behaviour-management and de-escalation strategies
• Encouraging pupils to engage confidently with their learning
• Providing consistent expectations, routines and boundaries
• Supporting pupils during lessons, transitions and breaktimes
• Working alongside teachers, SEND staff and pastoral leaders
• Celebrating every success—however big or small!

• Consistent in your approach while remaining compassionate
• A strong team player with excellent communication skills
• Experience within schools, SEND, SEMH, youth work, mentoring, sports coaching, care or residential settings would be highly valuable.

Relevant qualifications and Team Teach training are desirable but not essential—we are most interested in finding somebody with the right character, attitude and commitment.
