Job summary

Teaching Personnel is currently supporting a welcoming primary school in Preston to recruit a Behaviour Support Assistant from October 2026. The role involves providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils who display challenging behaviour, working with the SEN team to help regulate emotions and engagement.

You will collaborate with teaching staff, contribute to behaviour plans, and build trusting relationships with pupils.

Pay rate: £14.25 per hour

About the Role:

We are looking for someone who can provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils who present challenging behaviour. You will work closely with teaching staff and the SEN team to help pupils regulate their emotions, engage positively in learning, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing consistent behaviour support to pupils throughout the school day
• Using de-escalation strategies and proactive behaviour management techniques
• Supporting pupils emotionally and academically to improve engagement
• Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals
• Contributing to behaviour plans and pupil progress reviews
• Previous experience supporting children with challenging behaviour
• Ability to build trusting, positive relationships with pupils
• Calm, patient, and resilient approach
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
