Job summary

Cover People are seeking a confident, energetic and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Salford. You will work to support pupils with behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning.

Responsibilities include one-to-one and small-group support, de-escalation, positive relationships, and collaboration with teachers and pastoral staff. DBS checks are required; Team Teach training is desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience in schools, SEND, SEMH, youth work, mentoring, sports coaching, care or residential settings is valuable.
• Team Teach training or equivalent is desirable.
• DBS checks and safeguarding are standard requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
• Help children manage emotions and make positive choices.
• Use behaviour-management and de-escalation strategies.
• Encourage pupils to engage confidently with learning.
• Provide consistent expectations, routines and boundaries.
• Support pupils during lessons, transitions and breaktimes.
• Collaborate with teachers, SEND staff and pastoral leaders.
• Celebrate progress and successes with pupils.

Location: Salford
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Start date: ASAP
Pay: Competitive daily rate

Cover People are looking for a confident, energetic and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Salford.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a genuine difference to pupils who need additional support with their behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning.

No two days will be the same! You'll build positive relationships, celebrate progress and help pupils overcome the barriers preventing them from reaching their potential.

What will you be doing?

• Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
• Helping children manage their emotions and make positive choices
• Using effective behaviour-management and de-escalation strategies
• Encouraging pupils to engage confidently with their learning
• Providing consistent expectations, routines and boundaries
• Supporting pupils during lessons, transitions and breaktimes
• Working alongside teachers, SEND staff and pastoral leaders
• Celebrating every success—however big or small!
