Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a Behaviour Support Practitioner to work across Northampton schools, helping students develop positive behaviours, engage with learning and reach their full potential.

Ideal candidates include experienced Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, Youth Workers or mentors with a calm, empathetic approach and a passion for pupil wellbeing. Multiple full-time and part-time opportunities with ongoing consultant support are available.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome challenges and thrive in education? We are currently recruiting for a Behaviour Support Practitioner to work within schools across Northampton, helping students develop positive behaviours, improve engagement, and achieve their full potential.

This role is ideal for experienced Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, Youth Workers, Sports Coaches, Residential Support Workers, or individuals with a background in mentoring and pastoral support.

As a Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will work closely with students who require additional behavioural and emotional support, helping them to successfully access education and build confidence both inside and outside the classroom.

  • Provide one-to-one and small group behavioural support
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students
  • Support pupils in managing their emotions and behaviour effectively
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and interventions
  • Encourage student engagement, attendance, and achievement
  • Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment

Strong communication and relationship-building skills

A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach

Experience working with children or young people with behavioural, social, emotional, or mental health needs

Ability to remain professional in challenging situations

Passion for supporting student wellbeing and development

Previous school experience is desirable but not essential
