Job summary

Simply Education Ltd. is recruiting for a Behaviour Teaching Assistant in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex. This full-time role starts immediately after the October half-term and involves supporting pupils with challenging behaviour to access learning.

You will work with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff to provide targeted behavioural and emotional support, 1:1 and in small groups, using de-escalation techniques to help pupils stay engaged in lessons.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour.
• Experience in education and training, SEND, SEMH, or alternative provision is advantageous.
• Passion for helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and building positive behaviours.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with challenging behaviour.
• Use positive behaviour-management and de-escalation techniques.
• Help pupils regulate emotions and develop coping strategies.
• Identify triggers and intervene early to prevent escalation.
• Support pupil engagement and focus during lessons.
• Reinforce school expectations and boundaries.
• Assist during transitions and breaks.
• Help implement individual behaviour plans and support strategies.
• Record and report behavioural incidents and pupil progress.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams and parents/carers.
• Support the wider classroom to maintain a safe, positive learning environment.
