Job summary

Vision for Education is seeking a motivated Behaviour Support Assistant to work with pupils aged 4–11 in Shoreham-by-Sea. You will support in class, in small groups and one-to-one, using behaviour management skills to help pupils access their learning.

DESIRED: Level 2/3 qualifications; driving is preferred; prior SEND/SEMH experience is advantageous. You will be resilient, empathetic and patient, building relationships and mentoring pupils.

Qualifications

• DESIRED: Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or Level 2/3 Early Years Educator.
• DESIRED: Able to drive.
• Experience with SEND/SEMH or challenging behavioural needs is preferred.
• Be confident in behaviour management to de-escalate threats.
• Mentor and engage with the pupils delivering designed educational packages.
• Be resilient, empathetic and patient.

£14.24 - £14.50 per hour (salary is dependant on qualifications/experience)

About the role

Do you have a talent for building relationships and breaking down barriers? Are you looking for a new opportunity to support pupils with regulating their emotions and being able to access thier learning? Want to work as a Behaviour Support Assistant?

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will be required to support in class, in small groups and on a 1:1 basis, using behaviour management skills in assisting pupils to manage their behaviour and support them with learning. Pupils are all aged 4-11 with some students having EHCPs for Special Educational Needs & Disabilities and/or Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs (SEMH) as well as associated needs such as Autism or ADHD.

We are looking for an individual who has a passion for creating fun and engaging ways to support pupils and help them find school a safe, positive and enjoyable place to learn!

Requirements

• DESIRED: Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or Level 2/3 Early Years Educator
• DESIRED: Able to drive
• Ideally have prior school experience working with young people with SEND, SEMH or challenging behavioural needs.
• Be confident in behaviour management skills to de-escalate any threatening or aggressive behaviour.
• To mentor and engage with the pupils, delivering specifically designed educational packages.
• You will need to be resilient, empathetic, patient and not take things too personally.
