Job summary

Teaching Personnel are recruiting for a Behaviour Support Assistant to join a welcoming and Good-rated primary school in Lancaster. You will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with SEND to promote positive behaviour and engagement in the classroom.

The role involves working with the class teacher and SENCO to tailor support, building trusting relationships with pupils, staff and parents, and creating a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Teaching Personnel

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a Behaviour Support Assistant to work within a welcoming and supportive Good-rated primary school in Lancaster. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and compassionate individual who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

The successful candidate will provide dedicated support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping to promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement within the classroom environment.

The Role
  • Providing 1:1 support for a child with SEND needs.
  • Supporting the pupil's social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and implementing behaviour management strategies.
  • Working alongside the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support.
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with the pupil, staff, and parents.
  • Creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Has previous experience working with SEND.
  • Has experience supporting pupils with behavioural, emotional, or additional learning needs.
  • Is patient, resilient, and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is committed to promoting positive outcomes for children.
  • Can work effectively both independently and as part of a wider school team.
