Job summary

Kedleston Group, via Silverways School in Enfield, is seeking a Behaviour & Pastoral Lead to support pupils, families and staff with positive behaviour, wellbeing and attendance. You will collaborate with professionals to implement robust support plans and safeguarding practices.

You will lead the pastoral team, contribute to pupil voice, and help coordinate assemblies and enrichment activities. A compassionate, organised, and communicative leader is essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting vulnerable pupils.
  • Understanding trauma and neurodiversity.
  • Ability to develop and review individual support plans.
  • Experience working with families and external professionals.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities.

Job description

Are you passionate about helping young people overcome barriers, feel supported and achieve their potential? We're looking for an enthusiastic and committed Behaviour & Pastoral Lead to join our school and play a key role in supporting our pupils, families and staff. This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who can build strong relationships with young people while providing the structure, consistency and support they need to succeed. You'll work closely with colleagues, families and external professionals to promote positive behaviour, improve attendance and engagement, and support pupil wellbeing.

What you'll be doing: As our Behaviour & Pastoral Lead, you'll:

  • Support pupils to develop positive behaviour, attendance and engagement.
  • Work closely with families and other professionals to put effective support in place.
  • Help pupils develop positive wellbeing and mental health.
  • Provide guidance and support to colleagues to ensure consistent approaches across the school.
  • Support the development and review of individual support plans, risk assessments and interventions.
  • Use behaviour, attendance and other relevant data to help identify where additional support or intervention is needed.
  • Support safeguarding across the school as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
  • Line manage members of the pastoral team.
  • Help lead pupil voice and leadership opportunities through the Junior Leadership Team.
  • Oversee pupil mentoring opportunities and support the school's programme of assemblies and enrichment activities.

We're looking for someone who is approachable, organised and confident.

With the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families. You'll have experience of supporting vulnerable pupils and implementing effective support strategies, alongside strong behaviour management, communication and organisational skills. Experience of managing colleagues or influencing practice to improve outcomes for pupils is also important. You'll understand the importance of safeguarding and SEND and have an awareness of how trauma and neurodiversity can affect a young person's needs, behaviour and engagement. Most importantly, you'll bring energy, resilience and a genuine commitment to making a difference for young people.

Silverways School is an independent special school which supports children and young people with autism and associated learning needs. The school is set in the heart of the community in Enfield, North London. The focus at Silverways School is on maximising every child's potential to develop into a confident, resilient, and skilled young person who will make a positive contribution to society and live as independent a life as possible.
