Job summary

Centre Academy East Anglia seeks an experienced Behaviour and Nurture Specialist to lead and supervise the Behaviour and Nurture Room, ensuring a safe, therapeutic space for pupils with SEND. You will collaborate with staff, families and external services to promote wellbeing and reintegration.

The role focuses on emotional regulation, targeted intervention, and positive behaviour strategies, with a strong emphasis on safeguarding and individual pupil plans.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEND in a school setting.
• Ability to provide emotional regulation and behavioural support.
• Ability to work with families and external agencies.
• DBS clearance required before start.

Responsibilities

• Provide a calm, nurturing and structured environment for pupils experiencing emotional distress, anxiety, dysregulation, or behavioural difficulties.
• Support pupils in developing self-regulation, resilience, social skills, and coping strategies.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and act as a consistent key adult.
• Supervise pupils accessing the Behaviour/Nurture Room throughout the school day.
• Support pupils returning to learning following behavioural incidents, emotional difficulties, or periods of absence.
• Deliver restorative conversations and reflective sessions with pupils following incidents.
• Promote positive behavior and encourage pupils to take responsibility for their actions.
• Implement and support the school's Behaviour Policy consistently and fairly.
• De-escalate situations using recognised positive behaviour support strategies.
• Respond appropriately to incidents of challenging behaviour.
• Contribute to behaviour support plans, risk assessments, and individual pupil strategies.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, interventions, outcomes, and pupil progress.
