Job summary

Engage Education is recruiting a KS2 Behaviour Mentor for a 2-form entry primary school in Gorton, Manchester. You will mentor pupils in Years 3–6 who present SEMH needs and support learning with a blend of 1:1 coaching, active play, and classroom assistance.

The ideal candidate includes sports coaching or activity leadership, strong communication, and high energy. DBS checks requested; term-time long-term, daily pay £92.56–£100.00, paid weekly via PAYE.

Qualifications

• Background as Sports Coaches, Activity Leaders, Youth Workers, or Sports Science/Coaching Graduates with experience with primary-aged children.

Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 and small-group mentoring focused on emotional regulation, focus, and positive behaviour.
• Utilise sports, active play, and physical movement to engage pupils, build confidence, and teach teamwork.
• Implement proactive de-escalation strategies and positive behaviour plans in and out of the classroom.
• Lead structured sports activities and games during breaktimes and lunchtimes to encourage positive social interactions.
• Work with class teachers, the SENCo, and pastoral leads to track pupil progress and celebrate successes.

About the Role

Working across Key Stage 2 (Years 3 to 6), you will act as a positive role model and anchor for pupils presenting with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs or challenging behaviours. You will run 1:1 mentoring sessions, organise structured active play and sports activities during breaktimes, and support pupils in the classroom to help them stay focused, regulated, and engaged with their learning.
