Job description

Job Description

Behaviour Mentor

Location: Earley
Start Date: ASAP
Pay Scale: £90.00 - £105.00 per day

Are you a calm, resilient, and approachable Behaviour Mentor with a genuine passion for supporting young people? Do you have the patience and confidence to help pupils overcome behavioural challenges and develop positive attitudes towards learning?

A welcoming and supportive Specialist School in Earley is looking for a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join their team as soon as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in education, youth work, sports, care, or mentoring to make a meaningful difference to pupils who may face social, emotional, and behavioural barriers.

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play an important role in helping pupils understand and manage their behaviour while developing the confidence and skills needed to succeed both academically and personally.

This Behaviour Mentor role will involve:

  • Providing consistent 1:1 and small group mentoring to pupils
  • Supporting pupils who display challenging or dysregulated behaviour
  • Helping young people understand their emotions and develop appropriate coping strategies
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils and acting as a positive role model
  • Supporting pupils to develop confidence, self-esteem, resilience, and independence
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement with learning
  • Helping pupils identify triggers and develop strategies to manage difficult situations
  • Supporting pupils to overcome barriers to education and school life
  • Working alongside teachers, pastoral staff, and other professionals to provide consistent support
  • Contributing to a calm, positive, and structured school environment
  • ASAP start
  • Excellent Earley location with good transport links

Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly within education, youth work, mentoring, sports, care, or a similar environment, would be highly desirable. Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, behavioural difficulties, or additional needs is beneficial, but the right attitude, resilience, patience, and ability to build genuine relationships are equally important.

The school provides a supportive working environment alongside ongoing training and guidance from experienced staff. This makes the role an excellent opportunity for a Behaviour Mentor looking to develop their experience within a specialist educational setting.
