Job summary

Connex Education Partnership is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor / Youth Worker for a specialist primary provision in Wolverhampton. You will support children aged 4–11 who may be disengaged from learning and help them engage with education.

The role is full-time and long-term, paying up to £100 per day. The successful candidate will build calm, trusting relationships, manage behaviour, and work closely with teachers to help pupils return to mainstream settings.

Qualifications

• Experience as Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, Teaching Assistant or similar in educational settings.
• Ability to build positive relationships with children and support diverse needs.
• Calm, resilient and patient approach to helping learners engage and improve behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Support children who may display challenging behaviour or disengagement.
• Help pupils develop strategies to manage their emotions and behaviour.
• Encourage positive attitudes towards learning and attendance.
• Provide consistent support, boundaries and positive reinforcement.
• Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom.

• Act as a positive role model and collaborate with teachers and staff.

Are you a Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Sports Coach or similar professional looking for a genuinely rewarding role?

We are recruiting for a specialist primary alternative provision setting in Wolverhampton, supporting children aged 4–11 who may be disengaged from learning, struggling to manage successfully in a mainstream classroom, or at risk of exclusion.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is calm, resilient, patient and passionate about building positive relationships with children who may have experienced challenges within their previous educational setting.

The school provides a nurturing, caring and supportive environment, with a strong focus on both education and pastoral care. Staff work closely together to help pupils develop confidence, improve their behaviour and engagement, and ultimately become more successful and independent learners.

The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor / Youth Worker, you will:

• Help pupils develop strategies to manage their emotions and behaviour

• Encourage positive attitudes towards learning

• Provide consistent support, boundaries and positive reinforcement

• Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom

• Help children develop confidence, resilience and independence

• Act as a positive role model for pupils

• Work closely with teachers and other support staff

• Help create a calm, safe and positive learning environment

• Support pupils as they work towards successfully returning to a mainstream educational setting
