Tradewind Recruitment is partnering with a well-established Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in the London Borough of Brent to seek a dedicated Behaviour Mentor.

This full-time, long-term role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about supporting young people who have been excluded from mainstream education and may display challenging behaviour related to social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Brent, North West London

Start Date:

September 2025

Salary:

£90 - £120 per day

The Role

You will support students on a one-to-one and small group basis, working closely with staff, SENCo, and external agencies to promote positive behaviour strategies and re-engage students in learning. A calm, patient, and adaptable approach is essential, along with the ability to de-escalate challenging situations and build trusting relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting students in managing behaviour and developing emotional regulation strategies
• Implementing individual behaviour plans and contributing to intervention strategies
• Assisting in delivering tailored learning activities both in and out of the classroom
• Acting as a positive role model and mentor for vulnerable pupils
• Liaising with families, staff, and external agencies as needed

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Experience working in a PRU, alternative provision, or with SEMH needs
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
• A genuine interest in supporting young people to reach their potential
• The ability to remain calm under pressure and respond with empathy and consistency
• Relevant qualification or training in youth work, psychology, or SEN is desirable but not essential
