Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking an experienced Behaviour Manager for an independent secondary school in Birmingham. You will oversee day-to-day behaviour support and work with pastoral leaders, teachers and families to maintain a calm, respectful environment where students can thrive.

The role requires strong communication, consistency and safeguarding awareness, plus ability to analyse behaviour patterns and implement appropriate interventions.

Qualifications

• Experience in behaviour management, pastoral support or student services.
• Experience working with secondary-aged students.
• Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Confidence dealing with challenging behaviour.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Managing day-to-day behaviour support across the school.
• Monitoring behaviour incidents and identifying trends.
• Maintaining accurate behaviour records.
• Supporting students following behavioural incidents.
• Coordinating behaviour interventions.
• Working closely with heads of year and pastoral staff.
• Supporting teachers with behaviour-related concerns.
• Communicating with parents and carers.
• Contributing to behaviour meetings and reviews.
• Monitoring students subject to behaviour support plans.
• Supporting students to understand and improve their behaviour.
• Coordinating appropriate consequences in line with school policy.
• Supporting restorative conversations where appropriate.
• Identifying students requiring additional intervention.
• Producing behaviour reports for senior leaders.
• Supporting staff with consistent implementation of behaviour procedures.
• Contributing to behaviour policy reviews.
• Liaising with safeguarding staff where behaviour concerns overlap with wider welfare issues.
• Maintaining confidentiality throughout all student cases.
