Job summary

Preston Secondary School is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Manager to support students and staff, ensuring high behavioural standards across the school. The role involves monitoring incidents, liaising with teachers, parents and pastoral staff, and implementing targeted interventions.

You will work to identify and address recurring behaviour patterns, contribute to meetings, and support reintegration after exclusions. The role requires calm, fair leadership and strong record-keeping.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with young people.
• Experience in behaviour management, pastoral support, education or youth work.
• Strong understanding of behaviour strategies.
• Confident dealing with challenging situations.
• Calm, consistent and fair approach.
• Ability to build positive relationships while maintaining boundaries.
• Experience communicating with parents and carers.
• Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to work effectively with teaching and pastoral teams.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of the school's behaviour policy.
• Monitor behaviour across the school.
• Respond appropriately to behaviour incidents.
• Support staff when significant behaviour concerns arise.
• Work directly with students requiring additional intervention.
• Deliver behaviour-focused meetings and interventions.
• Monitor individual behaviour targets.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents and interventions.
• Identify recurring behaviour patterns.
• Share relevant information with pastoral and senior leaders.
• Communicate with parents and carers.
• Support reintegration following exclusions or periods away from lessons where appropriate.
• Work with students to develop positive behaviour strategies.
• Encourage students to take responsibility for their choices.
• Support classroom teachers with behaviour-related concerns.
• Contribute to behaviour meetings and reviews.
• Monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
• Liaise with safeguarding staff where appropriate.
• Promote positive behaviour throughout the school.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
