Job summary

Workington Academy is seeking a dedicated pastoral support worker to mentor identified students and deliver targeted intervention. The role focuses on improving behaviour, attendance and wellbeing, in collaboration with families and external agencies.

You will work Mon-Fri, 37 hours, term time plus 2 non-term weeks, in a maternity-cover capacity. You will provide calm, consistent support, build strong relationships, and contribute to a safe, inclusive school culture while safeguarding and

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people, ideally in an educational setting.
• Ability to establish positive, professional relationships with students and families.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Calm, consistent and resilient when managing challenging situations.
• Understanding of safeguarding and promoting welfare of children.

Responsibilities

• Provide mentoring and pastoral support to identified students.
• Work with students to improve behaviour, engagement and attitudes to learning.
• Support implementation of behaviour strategies and interventions.
• Monitor and evaluate student progress against targets.
• Build positive relationships with students, families and external agencies.
• Assist with attendance improvement and safeguarding procedures as required.
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive school culture.
