Job Summary
The purpose of ABL's Be U Autism Assessment Service is to provide assessments for children, young people and adults on the autism assessment pathway via the NHS.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure high‑quality support is consistently delivered to children, young people/adults and their families, working collaboratively with professionals to enable access to the service.
- Drive continuous service improvement, maintain best practice standards and deliver added‑value initiatives.
- Supervise and manage the Be U team through regular 1:1s and annual reviews, providing coaching, overseeing recruitment, and managing day‑to‑day operations such as allocating assessments and leading meetings.
- Support the design and implementation of post‑intervention support and monitor referral processes.
- Present fair, balanced feedback and challenge poor practice where required.
- Ensure partnership working with young people, families, carers, schools and other stakeholders, actively including them in reviews.
- Disseminate learning from the service to other stakeholders through case studies and feedback.
- Implement ABL policies and procedures, including quality assurance, safeguarding, data protection, HR and health & safety.
- Maintain up‑to‑date records for service users and employees, and deliver required reports to authorities.
- Identify risks and act proactively to avoid service breakdowns, respond to complaints and mitigate all types of risk.
- Prepare and support data‑led monthly performance monitoring for the Divisional Lead and ABL Executive Directors.
- Work flexibly and adapt to suit service needs and operate within the allocated budget.
- Support routine quality auditing processes and foster positive relationships with stakeholders and system partners.

- Knowledge of the issues that affect the families of children and young people on pathways for assessment.
- Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder.

- L5 Leadership/management qualification.
- Experience of being a CQC‑registered manager.
Person Specification – Experience
- Minimum of 2 years management experience in an operational role.
- Experience of health and social care/support delivery and service management.
- Experience delivering complex needs services to children and young people.
- Experience of consultations with young people and families.
- Experience working in community settings.
- Experience of multi‑disciplinary working.
- Ability to work effectively within safeguarding procedures.
- Competent at processing/interpreting service data and responding to identified needs through SMART action planning.
Person Specification – Desirable Experience
- Skills in providing consultation/training to other professional and non‑professional groups.
- Experience of providing clinical supervision.
- Experience of assessment, formulation and intervention.
