Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Milton Keynes, UK, seeks a Battery Pack Design Placement Student to join the Accelera Engineering team.

The placement is onsite three days per week and starts summer 2027, offering early exposure to a global engineering organization and hands-on battery design experience. You will work alongside mechanical, electrical and thermal engineers, develop CAD‑based components, and learn the product development cycle from concept to prototype.

Qualifications

• Undertaking a technical degree in Mechanical/Automotive/Design/Thermal Design or Electrical Engineering.
• Strong interest in electrification and Li-ion batteries.
• Proficient IT skills; CAD experience and report writing.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical & thermal engineers on mechanical product design.
• Learn product development cycle and design in context.
• Design components using CAD to meet cost and manufacturability goals.
• Document design fundamentals and coordinate basic investigations.
• Gain exposure to battery electric product design through testing and prototyping.
• Identify potential failure modes and mitigate through design improvements.
