Job summary

The Municipal Hotel & Spa MGallery in Liverpool is seeking a Bar Supervisor to oversee beverage service at Palm Court and Seaforth, ensuring 5★ guest experiences. You will manage a team, uphold licensing compliance, and drive sales with upselling and exceptional service.

We hire mostly on personality and potential, with emphasis on leadership, customer focus, and operational excellence to deliver memorable experiences in a historic hotel setting.

Qualifications

• Operational background in a full-service hotel or high-traffic bar/restaurant.
• Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience in a quality establishment.
• Passion for delivering 5★ service and interacting with guests.
• Ability to upsell and drive revenue through recommendations.
• Knowledge of Weights and Measures Act, Licensing Laws and safety campaigns.
• Establishes and shares product knowledge with the team.
• Plan, train, and communicate effectively with multiple departments.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A BAR SUPERVISOR AT THE MUNICIPAL HOTEL & SPA MGALLERY

What you’ll be doing...

As Bar Supervisor, you will assist in the management of beverage service within the Palm Court and Seaforth Restaurant Team and floor areas. Ensuring you and your team deliver service to an optimum level, in support of the Bar Operations Manager and Palm Court Floor Manager.. This role has variable shifts, evenings and days of work 5 days over 7 (inclusive of weekends when Restaurants & Bars are busy). You will ensure the highest quality of customer service and emotional intelligence in all areas, with demonstrated commitment in hitting financial, operational targets and adherence to licensing laws. Training, upskilling and motivating the team is a priority along with delivering key measurables on stock, key lines and financial bar closing reports. You will be an expert in Mixology specialising in the Art of the Bar and delivering cocktails with a story. You will have a passion for Alchemy and pride for your team to share your enthusiasm. You will proactively drive efficiency, employee productivity, operational procedures and compliance with financial processes.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

We hire mostly on personality & potential but here are a few of our requirements...

• An operational background (preferably within a full service hotel or quality restaurant / bar with high footfall) with at least 1 full year of Supervisory experience in a quality establishment.
• Passion for interacting with people and you must be driven for you and your team to deliver quality 5* service.
• An art of leading the team to maximise service, productivity and revenue opportunities (upsells, side orders, further drinks, recommendations).
• To be fully conversant in the Weights and Measures Act, Licensing Laws and safety campaigns.
• An established record of operational excellence, creativity, marketing awareness and strong product knowledge.
• Excelling in planning, preparing, knowledge sharing, costings, training and being fully communicative with your team and other departments.

• Ensure service standards and guest satisfaction are at the highest levels through training, mentoring, monitoring, feedback and setting expectations. Orchestrate a timeless memory and ensure our guests are delighted with our service.
• To be fully aware of all H&S, legal compliance and procedural control requirements
• Delivery control and processing
• To strategically maximise sales and identify upselling opportunities.
• To supervise, use people management skills in line with Company policies and drive the team to be the best!
• To work positively and collaboratively with all departments, brand andHeartists®.
