Job summary

Urban Reef in Bournemouth is seeking an experienced Bar Supervisor to lead our bar team through fast-paced service, ensuring drinks, service and safety standards are high.

You will set the standard behind the bar, train staff, prepare cocktails and coffee, manage stock and opening/closing duties, and foster a positive guest experience.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in supervisory role in a fast-paced bar.
• Strong cocktail-making skills.
• Barista training for quality coffee.
• Experience training or coaching team members.
• A clear understanding of health and safety, food hygiene and responsible alcohol service.

Responsibilities

• Lead the bar team during service, ensuring smooth shifts.
• Prepare cocktails and coffee to a high standard and coach others.
• Train and support new and current team members in drinks and procedures.
• Provide constructive feedback and build skills and confidence.
• Complete opening/closing tasks and cashing up as required.
• Monitor stock, support ordering and minimise waste.

Urban Reef is looking for an experiencedBar Supervisorto help lead our bar team and deliver a great experience for every guest. We’re a busy, lively venue, so you’ll need to be confident leading a team through fast-paced service while keeping drinks, service and safety standards consistently high.

About the role

You’ll take an active role in the day-to-day running of the bar. This includes leading shifts, supporting and training the team, and making sure the bar is well organised, fully stocked and ready for service.

You’ll set the standard behind the bar: preparing excellent cocktails and coffee, helping the team work efficiently during busy periods, and making sure every guest receives friendly, attentive service.

Your responsibilities

• Lead the bar team during service, delegating tasks and keeping the shift running smoothly
• Prepare cocktails and coffee to a consistently high standard, and coach the team to do the same
• Train and support new and existing team members in drinks preparation, service and bar procedures
• Give clear, positive feedback and help team members build their skills and confidence
• Complete opening, closing and handover duties, including cashing up where required
• Check stock levels, support ordering and replenishment, and minimise waste
• Keep the bar clean, organised and properly equipped throughout service
• Follow Urban Reef’s health and safety, food hygiene, allergen and licensing procedures
• Make sure cleaning schedules, temperature checks and other required records are completed accurately
• Report maintenance issues, hazards, accidents and near misses promptly
• Handle guest questions or concerns professionally, involving a manager when needed
• Support the wider team and work closely with management to maintain a positive working environment

What we’re looking for

• At least2 years’ experience in a supervisory role in a fast-paced bar
• Strong cocktail-making skills and the ability to prepare drinks to a high standard
• Barista training and confidence preparing quality coffee
• Experience training, supporting or coaching other team members
• A clear understanding of health and safety, food hygiene and responsible alcohol service
• A calm, practical approach when service gets busy
• Strong communication and organisation skills
• A hands-on attitude, reliability and a genuine focus on guest experience
