Job summary

MERJE seeks a Compliance Manager for a UK bank in a hybrid Chester-based role. You will oversee regulatory compliance, provide independent advice, and shape the bank's conduct risk approach as it scales. You’ll interact with senior leaders and steer the monitoring plan and regulatory horizon scanning.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in compliance, strong FCA knowledge, and experience in a Second Line environment within financial services. A recognised compliance qualification is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' Compliance experience
• Independent challenge, oversight and regulatory advice
• Strong knowledge of the FCA regulatory framework
• Experience with BCOBS, CONC, DISP, Consumer Duty and Conduct Risk
• Practical regulatory horizon scanning experience
• Experience presenting to senior stakeholders
• Industry-recognised Compliance or financial services qualification
• Strong communication skills and ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical guidance

Responsibilities

• Own the Compliance Monitoring Plan with risk-based coverage and meaningful outputs
• Provide independent challenge around regulatory risks, controls and themes
• Advise the business on FCA requirements, conduct risk and regulatory matters
• Support new products, business changes and strategic initiatives from Compliance perspective
• Interpret regulatory requirements clearly for stakeholders
• Lead regulatory horizon scanning and assess impact of developments
• Produce MI and insights for governance forums and highlight risks
• Act as Second Line Compliance SME and escalation point for regulatory matters
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders across the business and leadership forums
• Help develop and maintain an effective, proportionate Compliance framework as the bank scales
