Job summary

CareTech is recruiting Bank Support Workers to join Ajax Place in Felpham, West Sussex, supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs. The role offers a flexible bank contract with a pay rate of £12.71 per hour and requires DBS clearance.

Applicants should be caring, patient, and reliable, with good communication skills and a willingness to train. Full training and induction provided, with shifts including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-ins.

About the Service – Ajax Place

Ajax Place is a 6 bedded supported living service in the West Sussex area.

The service benefits from good transport links, making community access easy for both staff and tenants.

The Residents are all between the ages of 18 and 35 and have moderate to low learning disabilities.

Service User Interests

The people we support enjoy a wide range of activities, and Support Workers play a vital role in enabling these experiences, including:

• Arts and crafts
• Days out such as Theme Parks, Meals out, Social activities, Christmas markets etc.
• Holidays and short breaks
• Walks in the local park and community
• Cooking and baking to develop life skills

The Role

You will:

• Deliver person‑centred support in line with individual support plans
• Assist with daily living skills and personal care where required
• Promote independence, dignity, and wellbeing
• Support activities, appointments, and community access
• Maintain accurate records and work effectively as part of a team
• Work a rota including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and sleep‑ins

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking people who are caring, patient, and respectful, with a positive and resilient approach. You should be confident working independently and within a team, have good communication skills, basic IT and written abilities, and be flexible and reliable.

No previous experience? No problem! If you have the passion, we’ll provide full training and a structured induction programme.

• Ability to work unsociable hours on a rota basis
• Drivers desirable but not essential
• Enhanced DBS required (paid for by CareTech)
