Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Oldbury is seeking a Bank Kitchen Assistant to join the catering team. You will help provide balanced meals, support kitchen duties, and work on shifts that suit your availability. A DBS check is required and the environment is a care setting.

The role offers flexible bank shifts, opportunities to learn, and a supportive MDT within a modern hospital in the West Midlands.

Qualifications

• Passionate about catering, preferably with experience within a care setting.
• Enthusiastic, keen to learn and an active team member.
• Polite and professional, with a positive attitude at all times.
• Able to work on your own initiative and under supervision.
• Willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Assist the team in providing balanced, appetising meals.
• Perform basic food preparation, cooking tasks and other kitchen duties.
• Wash utensils and dishes and store them appropriately.
• Sort, store and distribute ingredients, check deliveries and assist with stock ordering.
• Maintain personal hygiene and ensure the kitchen is clean and hygienic.
• Handle, maintain and store kitchen equipment in line with procedures.

Cygnet Hospital Oldbury is our state-of-the-art PICU & Acute hospital for women, in the West Midlands.The service has two wards, a 12-bed PICU ward and a 15-bed Acute ward. Cygnet Hospital Oldbury has a full multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and supports the acute needs of adults requiring rapid access to mental health services, including those who may need an intensive care environment.

Your Day-to-Day...

• Assist the team in providing balanced, appetising meals
• Perform basic food preparation, cooking tasks & o ther kitchen duties
• Wash utensils, dishes & make sure they are stored appropriately
• Sort, store & distribute ingredients, check deliveries and assist with stock ordering
• Maintain personal hygiene and ensure the kitchen is clean & hygienic
• Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures
• Use chemicals in line with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.
