Bank Catering Supervisor

Main duties of the job

We need you to lead our team by supervising staff, supporting their development, providing clarity on tasks, and emphasizing the importance of their roles in patient and staff care.

Effective communication skills are essential for liaising with colleagues and other departments to ensure smooth operations. You will be a role model, leading by example, with a passion for delivering excellent catering services.

We will support your role with comprehensive interactive training and specialised courses in our active kitchens, helping you gain valuable experience and transferable skills. Management support will be available to you at all times.

Job responsibilities

You will oversee the cleaning and maintenance of all patient service areas, focusing on training, task allocation, and maintaining hygiene standards in kitchen areas. You will ensure standards are continually met.

As a Catering Supervisor, you will liaise with staff across the Trust, leading by example and upholding Trust values. You will also adhere to departmental standards and food hygiene regulations.

Key duties include:

  • Communicating effectively with colleagues to coordinate catering tasks and service needs.
  • Interacting with service users to understand needs and provide information.
  • Coordinating and supervising the production of snacks and food services.
  • Managing cleaning activities, including manual and mechanical cleaning of areas and equipment.
  • Assisting in staff management, performance monitoring, and development.
  • Preparing staff rotas and participating in recruitment processes.
  • Supervising retail operations, including cash handling and safety.
  • Reporting equipment issues, hazards, and incidents.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Education
  • Good GCSE-level education
  • Level 2 Certificate in Food Hygiene
  • Basic health and safety qualification
  • European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)
  • Intermediate Certificate in Food Hygiene
Knowledge & Experience
  • Knowledge of Information Governance and Data Protection
  • Experience in catering and dealing with the public
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets and healthcare settings
Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This role requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check due to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
