Job summary

Masstemps are recruiting for a band saw operative for a client in Redditch, a well-established manufacturing company.

The successful candidate will operate band saw machinery to accurately cut a range of metal materials to specified lengths and dimensions, while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Reading engineering drawings and cutting lists, and working as part of a production team to meet daily targets, are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience operating a band saw or similar cutting machinery.
• Experience in manufacturing, engineering or metalworking.
• Ability to read basic engineering drawings or cutting specifications.

Responsibilities

• Operate band saw machinery safely and efficiently.
• Cut metal and other materials to specified lengths and dimensions.
• Read engineering drawings and cutting lists to follow specs.
• Set and adjust machinery as required for accurate cuts.
• Inspect finished cuts to ensure quality standards.
• Maintain a clean and safe working area and report defects.

Masstemps are currently recruting for a band saw operative to just our client, a well-established manufacturing company based in Redditch.

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating band saw machinery to accurately cut a range of metal materials to specified lengths and dimensions, while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Operating band saw machinery safely and efficiently.
• Cutting metal and other materials to specified lengths and dimensions.
• Operating an over head crane
• Reading and working from engineering drawings, cutting lists and specifications.
• Measuring materials accurately using appropriate measuring equipment.
• Setting and adjusting machinery as required.
• Loading and unloading materials safely.
• Inspecting finished cuts to ensure they meet required quality standards.
• Identifying and reporting any defects or issues with materials or machinery.
• Maintaining a clean and organised working area.
• Following all company health & safety procedures.
• Carrying out basic machine checks and routine maintenance where required.
• Working as part of a wider production team to meet daily production targets.

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience operating a band saw or similar cutting machinery.
• Experience within a manufacturing, engineering or metalworking environment.
• The ability to read and understand basic engineering drawings or cutting specifications.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy.
• Experience using tape measures, verniers and other measuring equipment.
• A good understanding of workplace health & safety.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A reliable and hardworking attitude.
• Good timekeeping and attendance.

Hours of work:

Monday - Friday 8am-5:00pm

Rate of pay: up to £14 per hour
