Job summary

Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an occupational therapist to perform assessments and deliver interventions for adults with mental health needs in community settings, under supervision. The role requires flexibility, good observation, and collaborative work with service users, families, and carers.

You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, contribute to care planning, maintain records, and apply current evidence to practice.

Qualifications

• Appropriate professional qualification in occupational therapy (or pending).
• HCPC registration (or pending) and post-placement experience across practice areas.
• Experience supporting people with mental health, learning disability or autism.
• Experience in multidisciplinary teams and risk assessment in practice.
• Record keeping and report writing, and collaboration with families/caregivers.

Job description

The successful post holder will carry out occupational therapy assessment and intervention under the clinical supervision of a senior Occupational Therapist. The clinical focus is working with adults experiencing occupational difficulties with a mental health need within community services., Please refer to the attached job description and person specification for further detailed information to ensure that you meet the role criteria before applying.

• Appropriate professional qualification in occupational therapy role (or pending)
• Registration with HCPC (or pending), Experience of working in a variety of practice areas whilst on student placements (or postgraduate), Experience of supporting people with mental health issues, learning disability or autism
• Experience of working in Multidisciplinary Team, Understanding of the needs of service users with mental health conditions and/or learning disabilities, Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.
• Knowledge of the evidence base for the clinical practice area, Record keeping and report writing
• Collaborating with service users and carers/ families in accordance with principles of co-production
• Good observational skills and ability to describe such observations verbally and in writing
• Able to work flexibly and co operatively as part of a team.

• Apply latest research evidence and evaluative thinking in practice
• Ability to adapt treatment using own initiative.
• Compassionate in meeting the needs of vulnerable people and their families and carers.
