Job summary

Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join the Adult Community Mental Health teams in Hartlepool. You will work under supervision, providing OT assessment and intervention for adults with mental health needs in the community, supported by an on-site management team and a band 7 clinical specialist.

Applicants should have HCPC registration (or be pending) and a professional OT qualification; UK driving may be required.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a band 5 Occupational Therapist (must hold HCPC registration) to join the Adult Community mental health teams in Hartlepool. The post will be actively supported by onsite management, an MDT, and a band 7 clinical specialist Occupational Therapist.

Main duties of the job

The successful post holder will carry out occupational therapy assessment and intervention under the clinical supervision of a senior Occupational Therapist. The clinical focus is working with adults experiencing occupational difficulties with a mental health need within community services.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Appropriate professional qualification in occupational therapy role (or pending)
• Registration with HCPC (or pending)
• Post graduate training in relevant specialist area

Experience

• Experience of working in a variety of practice areas whilst on student placements (or postgraduate)
• Experience of supporting people with mental health issues, learning disability or autism
• Experience of working in Multidisciplinary Team

Knowledge

• Awareness of professional standards and their application to practice
• Understanding of the needs of service users with mental health conditions and/or learning disabilities
• Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.
• Knowledge of the evidence base for the clinical practice area

• Good observational skills and ability to describe such observations verbally and in writing
