Occupational Therapist

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a band 5 Occupational Therapist (must hold HCPC registration) to join the Adult Community mental health teams in Hartlepool. The post will be actively supported by onsite management, an MDT, and a band 7 clinical specialist Occupational Therapist.

This role may be eligible for sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route. Main duties of the job

The successful post holder will carry out occupational therapy assessment and intervention under the clinical supervision of a senior Occupational Therapist. The clinical focus is working with adults experiencing occupational difficulties with a mental health need within community services.

Qualifications
  • Appropriate professional qualification in occupational therapy role (or pending)
  • Registration with HCPC (or pending)
  • Post graduate training in relevant specialist area
Experience
  • Experience of working in a variety of practice areas whilst on student placements (or postgraduate)
  • Experience of supporting people with mental health issues, learning disability or autism
  • Experience of working in Multidisciplinary Team
Knowledge
  • Awareness of professional standards and their application to practice
  • Understanding of the needs of service users with mental health conditions and/or learning disabilities
  • Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.
  • Knowledge of the evidence base for the clinical practice area
Skills
  • Record keeping and report writing
  • Collaborating with service users and carers/ families in accordance with principles of co-production
  • Good observational skills and ability to describe such observations verbally and in writing
  • Able to work flexibly and co operatively as part of a team.
  • Delegates tasks appropriately
  • Apply latest research evidence and evaluative thinking in practice
  • Ability to adapt treatment using own initiative.
  • Compassionate in meeting the needs of vulnerable people and their families and carers.
  • Ability to work on own in a variety of settings using initiative appropriately
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to prioritise own workload
  • Completion of Preceptorship programme and competency framework within 1 year of starting post (or pending)
  • Knowledge and experience of the clinical area
  • Must have full valid driving license and have use of a car for business purposes
