Job description

This is an exciting internal opportunity to work within a well-established, staffed and resourced and respected Occupational Therapy service with patients with a primary diagnosis of server mental illness or personality disorder. The post will be based within the high security, forensic hospital environment and offers a great development opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to develop their skills. The hospital has moved to a new bespoke hospital is the most modern high security forensic hospital in the country. The hospital focuses on innovative care to a challenging and interesting patient group. We have a strong commitment to multi-professional working within the clinical team, focussing on reducing risk and offending behaviours., The post holder will take be responsible for one ward and will work with Occupational Therapy Assistant in all the sessions with patients. The Occupational Therapy service work together to offer groups and individual treatment goals for patients and are valued member of the multi-disciplinary team., The Candidate Pack provides an overview of the key tasks and responsibilities of the role, and the person specification outlines the qualifications, skills, experience and knowledge required. We are looking to recruit a resourceful, motivated Occupational Therapist, experienced in forensic settings who enjoys new challenges. Experience in using the VdT MoCA is essential,

  • BSc (Hons) or equivalent occupational therapy qualification
  • HCPC Registration
  • Evidence of post-graduate training in mental health
  • Clinical supervision training
  • Qualifications and TrainingBSc (Hons) or equivalent occupational therapy qualification HCPC Registered Evidence of post-graduate training in mental health Clinical supervision training Practice placement supervision training BACOT registered or other Indemnity Insurance in place.
  • BACOT registered or other Indemnity Insurance in place., Management/Leadership training
  • Accredited Practice placement supervision training
  • Coaching skills, Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience as an Occupational Therapist
  • Clear indication of an interest in the relevant MH area
  • In-patient or community mental health OT clinical experience
  • Supervision of O.T.s and support staff
  • Supervision of O.T. students on practice placement
  • Use of the Activity Participation Outcome Measure- APOM
  • Experience in the use of the VdT MoCA as a model of practice
  • Demonstrated involvement in service development
  • To provide leadership to junior staff
