Job summary

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) seek a Senior Occupational Therapist to lead MOHO-based interventions within our mental health and community services in Peterborough. You will apply recovery and person-centred approaches to improve occupational performance and independence for service users.

Under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist Advanced Practitioner you will collaborate with service users and carers to create individualised plans, adjust interventions

  • Experience of innovative and person-centred Occupational Therapy interventions.
  • Ongoing development of leadership skills.
  • Ability to undertake risk assessments and implement risk management plans.
  • Specialist knowledge of OT assessment, interventions and practice models relevant to the client group.

Responsibilities

  • Lead OT interventions under MOHO principles and recovery-focused care.
  • Work under supervision of the Occupational Therapist Advanced Practitioner.
  • Collaborate with service users to create individualized plans.
  • Modify OT plans with service users and carers; review goals in care planning.
  • Promote equality of outcome reflecting ethnicity, gender, culture, physical health and age.

  • The post holder will lead on the provision of Occupational Therapy interventions underpinned by the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) and the principles of recovery and person-centred care.
  • The Senior Occupational Therapist will work under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist Advanced Practitioner.
  • Apply a high level of understanding of the impact of mental, social, sensory, emotional, cognitive, psychological, and physical issues on occupational performance, providing occupational therapy interventions and adaptations to the service user's social and physical environment.
  • Work collaboratively with service users to create individualised, meaningful plans that support the achievement of Occupational Therapy goals.
  • Ensure that all modification to OT intervention plans and assessments will involve the service user and where appropriate the carer; collaboratively identifying, pursuing and reviewing goals in the context of care planning.
  • Promote equality of outcome for service users that reflect the individuality of their mental health need and those of ethnicity, gender, culture, physical health and age.

Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria
  • Minimum Bachelor level equivalent training in OT.
Desirable criteria
  • Member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists.
Experience
Essential criteria
  • Experience and commitment to the principles of multi disciplinary and team working.
  • Experience of a variety of innovative and person-centred Occupational Therapy interventions.
Desirable criteria
  • Working with people with a range of mental health problems.
  • Experience of the implementation of an improvement project related to OT intervention of service improvement.

  • To liaise with and establish close links with a range of people and professionals.
