Job summary

Warburtons is seeking a senior Engineering Leader to drive plant efficiency and safety at their Wakefield bakery. You will lead the engineering team, develop maintenance programmes, and deliver projects that improve production performance.

You will manage budgets, energy initiatives, and ensure compliance with H&S and food safety standards while mentoring a high-performing team of engineers and specialists.

Qualifications

• Food & Drink Advanced Engineering L5 Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
• Collaboration and team working skills.
• Quality systems knowledge to meet standards.
• Bread making process, plant & technology knowledge.
• HR policies and employment law knowledge.
• Experience in FMCG management.
• H&S/Food Safety systems knowledge (IOSH).
• IT proficiency including Microsoft Office, SAP, PLCs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage a maintenance and improvement programme to increase bakery efficiency.
• Identify and manage site-based projects, ensuring efficiency during trials and quick resolution of issues.
• Monitor plant and equipment to ensure compliance with food safety legislation and take timely action.
• Ensure health & safety compliance and a safe working environment.
• Recruit, motivate and develop the engineering team to meet goals.
• Identify and implement energy and environment standards and manage projects.
• Develop budgets and manage expenditure to meet targets.
