Job summary

Stephens Bakery in Dunfermline is seeking an Assistant Manager on a 30 hour contract to lead the shop team, deliver great customer service, and maintain high standards of quality and safety.

You will assist with rota planning, opening and closing duties, training new starters, and supporting the team through busy periods while upholding our customer-first values and a positive, can-do culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead the shop team during shifts, setting pace and focus.
• Involve in rota planning and short-term cover.
• Support with team performance issues.
• Be a visible, approachable leader, especially during busy periods.
• Role model high standards of customer service and professionalism.
• Help train new starters and provide guidance to others.
• Interact with customers and model excellent service.
• Ensure the shop is welcoming, clean, and well-stocked.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and health & safety policies.
• Carry out opening/closing duties, till processes, and cash handling.
• Assist with ordering, stock rotation, and waste control.
• Promote teamwork and resolve issues proactively.
