Engine by Starling is seeking Backend Software Engineers to build and evolve the Engine Platform for global banks. You’ll work on features from conception to production, using Java and a cloud-native stack, while contributing to a culture of learning and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Backend software engineers with a focus on cloud-native platforms.
• Experience with Java and modern microservice architectures.
• Familiarity with AWS/GCP, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code (Terraform).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the award-winning Engine Platform and internal tooling.
• Build new features and products from scratch in a configurable way.
• Share knowledge and contribute to a learning culture.
• Own projects and deliver in small cross‑bank teams.
• Aim for greatness, stay curious and inquisitive.
• Help scale the team as we grow the banking platform.
