Job summary

BT Group in Belfast is seeking a Software Engineer to help build and evolve backend services for consumer billing platforms. You will work with Java/Spring Boot, AWS, EKS and Oracle DB, contributing to cloud-native development and reliable billing solutions.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable services, participate in code reviews, and learn modern engineering practices while supporting continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Qualifications

Java & Spring Boot backend development experience.
Microservices architecture and REST API development experience.
Experience delivering software in an engineering team with debugging, testing, and release support.

Responsibilities

Develop and enhance backend services and microservices for consumer billing journeys.
Write, test, and maintain high-quality code within established engineering standards and delivery plans.
Support build, test, deployment, and release activities for reliable changes across billing services.
Apply engineering patterns to build secure, scalable Java/Spring Boot services and integrations.
Contribute to design discussions, code reviews, and technical refinement within the team.
Learn and apply practices such as microservices design, API-first development, and CI/CD.
