Job summary

NatWest Group is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer to design, develop and test software across the lifecycle, with emphasis on scalable, automated solutions. You will work in a permanent feature team liaising with engineers and architects to align platform work with business objectives.

You will apply Agile methods, produce resilient software, and focus on automation of build, test, and deployment. Expect collaboration with business teams and emphasis on security in a financial context.

Qualifications

• Strong full stack experience in software design and implementation.
• Complex requirements analysis capture and validation with business and system requirements.
• Experience leading programming best practice around scalability, automation, virtualization, optimisation, availability and performance.
• Strong experience in Microservices, Observability and Cloud Technology (AWS).
• Hands-on experience in Spring, Spring Boot and Docker.
• Ability to collaborate with business teams to produce pragmatic solutions.
• Experience of information security policies and practices in the financial sector.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts simply.

Responsibilities

• Develop knowledge of the platform across business, applications, data and infrastructure.
• Liaise with principal engineers, architects and stakeholders to understand how the platform works.
• Apply Agile methods to software development on the backlog.
• Deliver resilient, long-lived software and adapt to future needs.
• Design and develop software focusing on build, test and deployment automation.
• Utilise Microservices, Kubernetes and Cloud Technologies.
