Job summary

HSBC Group is building a Group AI Platform within CTO Platforms to deliver production-grade AI services and tooling across the bank. You will design, develop, test, deploy and support backend systems for agent execution, workflow orchestration, memory, and MCP integrations.

Ideal candidates have strong Python/Go expertise, experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native patterns, and prior work on AI-enabled production platforms. The role emphasizes scalable, secure, and observable services.

Qualifications

• Extensive backend/platform engineering experience.
• Proficient in Python and Go.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker and CI/CD.
• Knowledge of API design, event-driven architecture and cloud-native patterns.
• Production experience deploying AI products is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services for agent runtimes, workflow orchestration, tool calling, and memory management.
• Build and manage agent tools, model context, and platform APIs.
• Implement persistence using PostgreSQL, Redis and BigQuery.
• Design and operate distributed microservice-based systems.
• Evaluate frameworks, integrate MCP servers and gateways.
• Develop event-driven capabilities using Temporal, Pub/Sub and BigQuery.
• Ensure secure, scalable, and measurable AI platform services.
