Job summary

Barclays is seeking a Backend Engineer for the Chief Technology Office in London to build cutting-edge AI platforms and high-performance backend systems. You will work with engineers to implement AI/ML solutions, contribute to product roadmaps, and ensure secure, scalable delivery using Python, AWS, Docker/Kubernetes, and CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• Experience in backend development with Python.
• Proven AWS deployment experience.
• Experience with SDLC using Git, Agile, and automated testing.
• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines.
• Infrastructure as code knowledge (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Experience with AI/ML frameworks (e.g., LangChain).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide SME to support collaboration between the product owner and technical side of product development.
• Support development and implementation of the product strategy and communicate with stakeholders and the dev team.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather and prioritize product requirements based on business value, feasibility, and security.
• Develop and implement assessments to ensure continuous testing and improvement of product quality and performance.
• Monitor product performance to identify opportunities for optimisation that meet performance standards.
• Stay abreast of industry technology trends to evaluate and adopt new approaches to improve product development and delivery.
• Lead a team performing complex tasks, coaching members and aligning efforts with business objectives.
• Advise on policy development and support operational effectiveness; collaborate with other functions.
• Demonstrate Barclays Leadership LEAD behaviours when applicable.
