Job summary

Hastings Hotels in Northern Ireland is seeking a reliable Back of House Steward to join our Cellars & Stores Team at the Grand Central Hotel. You will support the day-to-day running of cellars and stores and help ensure efficient, well-organised stock management.

No prior experience is essential as full training will be provided; however, good communication, a tidy appearance, and a focus on detail are important. This is a full-time role, 35 hours a week, with shifts including weekends.

Qualifications

• GCSEs including English and Maths.
• Right to work in the United Kingdom.

Responsibilities

• Receive and store incoming goods with accurate documentation.
• Authorize requisitions for all goods leaving storeroom or loading bay.
• Store stock properly to reduce spoilage; rotate stock to avoid wastage.
• Empty bottle skips daily and maintain a clean, tidy environment.
• Direct staff entry via staff entrance and carry out spot checks as per policy.
• Maintain security of loading bay and monitor for pilferage; report breaches.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a harmonious working environment.
• Comply with health, safety, fire, hygiene and security policies.
• Perform any other duties as required by management.

The successful candidate can expect to work 35 hours per week (excluding breaks), five shifts out seven including weekends.

Hours vary, but typical shift patterns include, 6am to 2pm, 7am to 3pm, 8am to 4pm, 2pm to 10pm.

The salary for this full-time position is £23,478 per annum.

About you:

We would love you to have some similar previous experience, but this is not essential as our Stores & Cellars Manager will provide you with full training.

About the role

To be responsible for the effective running of cellars and stores, for the greatest enjoyment of the guests and maximum resource efficiency for the hotel

1.To receive and store incoming goods, ensuring all documentation is accurate and in accordance with company policies.

2.To ensure that all goods leaving the storeroom, cellars or loading bay is supported by properly authorised requisitions.

3.To ensure all stock is stored in the best possible conditions to reduce spoilage and damage, maintaining an effective stock rotation system to eliminate wastage, immediately reporting any problems.

4.To empty bottle skips on a daily basis, maintaining a clean and tidy environment.

5.To ensure staff enter and leave via staff entrance in the loading bay, and in conjunction with management to carry out spot checks of staff and their personal items in accordance with hotel policy

6.To maintain adequate security of loading bay area, being vigilant for pilferage of stock and hotel property, and carry out security surveillance patrols in accordance with company policies, immediately reporting any breaches of security.

7.To work effectively with colleagues to ensure a harmonious working environment where all employees are treated with respect and dignity.

8.To comply with all health, safety, fire, hygiene and security policies and procedures.

9.Any other duties as required by management.
