Job summary

Hastings Hotels in Northern Ireland is seeking an Assistant Restaurant Manager for the Grand Central Hotel to lead the restaurant team and deliver luxury 5-star service.

You will work under the General Manager to oversee daily operations, develop staff, and ensure guest satisfaction while providing learning and development opportunities. The role is full-time, 35 hours per week with a flexible schedule including weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for effective leadership of restaurant staff in absence of Restaurant Manager
  • Promote a harmonious working environment
  • Ensure quality standards and procedures are understood and followed
  • Manage cash handling, stock control and stock ordering
  • Provide training and development to restaurant staff
  • Promote hotel facilities to guests and drive sales
  • Respond to guest requests and complaints to resolve issues
  • Maintain communication with other hotel departments and suppliers
  • Ensure restaurant areas and equipment are well maintained and secure
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and licensing requirements
  • Seek knowledge of industry trends and competition
  • Assist with recruitment and effective staffing during peaks and troughs
  • Contribute to hotel business planning and initiatives
  • Adhere to policies and procedures regarding licensing and regulations
  • Perform any other duties as required

Under the inspiring leadership of our General Manager, Jake McHugh, you will assist in providing leadership to our Food and Beverageteam, ensuring the smooth day-to-day management of our busy restaurant. We want to help you to develop your skills and offer an extensive range of learning and development opportunities.

The successful candidate will have worked in a busy restaurant environment and be able to lead, motivate and support team members to achieve success. You can expect to work 35 hours per week (excluding breaks), five shifts out seven including weekends. As Assistant Restaurant Manageryou will have a fully flexible approach as working patterns will include days, evenings and weekends as required.

The salary for this full-time position is £27,250 per annum.

About the role

To assist with the management of the Observatory for the greatest enjoyment of the guests and maximum profit contribution to the hotel.

1.To take responsibility for the effective leadership of the restaurant employees in the absence of the Restaurant Manager, to ensure the efficient operation of the Restaurant and the delivery of Hastings product and service standards.

2.To promote and contribute to a harmonious working environment where all staff are treated with respect and dignity.

3.To ensure quality standards and procedures are fully understood, implemented and regularly reviewed, and that formal and informal feedback is used to ensure continual improvement.

4To ensure company policies relating to cash handling, stock control and stock ordering are implemented and monitored, taking appropriate action to resolve problems.

5.To ensure all restaurant employees receive appropriate training, coaching and development to provide effective and efficient service in line with Hastings standards.

6.To ensure the team are knowledgeable about the facilities and services within the hotel and are proactive in the sale of these to guests.

7.To ensure you and the team respond assist guests with any reasonable request for hotels services.

8.To ensure you and the team respond to complaints and find the appropriate solution.

9.To maintain effective communication and relationships with other hotel departments, suppliers and agencies to maintain an effective operation and ensure guest satisfaction.

10. To ensure the restaurant area, fixtures and equipment are properly maintained and presented to Hastings standards.

11.To ensure the security of restaurant and storage areas is maintained at all times.

12.To ensure a safe environment is maintained in compliance with health, safety, fire, hygiene and security legislation and company policies and procedures.

13.To seek and continuously develop knowledge relating to the industry sector and competitor activity, to provide input into future plans and activities, and so maintain and enhance market position.

14.To assist with the recruitment, selection and utilisation of restaurant employees to achieve the optimum use of employee resource in line with business peaks and troughs.

15.To contribute to the development of the hotel business plan, projects and initiatives to continually develop the hotel business and market position.

16.To ensure the hotel's compliance with all matters relating to licensing laws, Customs and Excise Regulations and all other relevant legislation.

17.Any other duties as required by management
