Job summary

Hastings Hotels is seeking a reliable Back of House Steward to join the Grand Central Hotel's Cellars & Stores Team in Belfast. This full-time role offers 35 hours per week over five shifts, with varied start times including early mornings.

Training is provided and progression opportunities exist within the group. You will help receive, store and rotate stock, ensure security, maintain cleanliness, and support colleagues to deliver excellent guest experiences across Northern Ireland’s luxury

Qualifications

• Good communication skills.
• A clean and tidy appearance.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and as a team.
• Right to work in the United Kingdom.
• GCSE or equivalent including English and Maths.

Responsibilities

• Receive and store incoming goods with accurate documentation.
• Ensure all stock leaving storeroom has proper requisition authorization.
• Maintain stock rotation to reduce wastage and report issues.
• Empty bottle skips daily and keep the area clean.
• Control access to loading bay and carry out security checks as required.
• Ensure a harmonious working environment and respect for colleagues.
• Follow health, safety, hygiene and security policies.
• Perform any other duties as required by management.
• Support colleagues to deliver guest experiences across the hotel.

The successful candidate can expect to work 35 hours per week (excluding breaks), five shifts out seven including weekends.

Hours vary, but typical shift patterns include, 6am to 2pm, 7am to 3pm, 8am to 4pm, 2pm to 10pm.

The salary for this full-time position is £23,478 per annum.

About you:

We would love you to have some similar previous experience, but this is not essential as our Stores & Cellars Manager will provide you with full training.

About the role

To be responsible for the effective running of cellars and stores, for the greatest enjoyment of the guests and maximum resource efficiency for the hotel

1.To receive and store incoming goods, ensuring all documentation is accurate and in accordance with company policies.

2.To ensure that all goods leaving the storeroom, cellars or loading bay is supported by properly authorised requisitions.

3.To ensure all stock is stored in the best possible conditions to reduce spoilage and damage, maintaining an effective stock rotation system to eliminate wastage, immediately reporting any problems.

4.To empty bottle skips on a daily basis, maintaining a clean and tidy environment.

5.To ensure staff enter and leave via staff entrance in the loading bay, and in conjunction with management to carry out spot checks of staff and their personal items in accordance with hotel policy

6.To maintain adequate security of loading bay area, being vigilant for pilferage of stock and hotel property, and carry out security surveillance patrols in accordance with company policies, immediately reporting any breaches of security.

7.To work effectively with colleagues to ensure a harmonious working environment where all employees are treated with respect and dignity.

8.To comply with all health, safety, fire, hygiene and security policies and procedures.

9.Any other duties as required by management.
