Job summary

The Plumbing Distribution Company Ltd in Chelmsford, Essex, is seeking a Sales Account Executive to manage an established customer portfolio and drive new business across the UK. This permanent, Monday–Friday role offers a £35,000 basic salary plus an uncapped monthly bonus with realistic OTE £40,000 - £50,000+.

You will build strong relationships with plumbing merchants and work cross-functionally to achieve sales targets.

Qualifications

• Experience in B2B sales and account management.
• Proven ability to grow existing accounts.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Proficient in CRM and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop an established portfolio of plumbing and builders' merchant customers.
• Achieve agreed sales, revenue and account growth targets.
• Handle inbound sales enquiries by telephone, email, WhatsApp and customer portal.
• Proactively contact existing, dormant and prospective customers to generate new business.
• Build relationships with key customer decisionmakers.
• Identify upselling, cross-selling and product promotion opportunities.
• Prepare quotations and follow up opportunities to maximise conversion.
• Manage the sales process from enquiry through to order completion.
• Identify and secure new merchant accounts across the UK.
• Reactivate dormant and develop underperforming customer accounts.
• Maintain regular customer contact through a structured monthly call programme.
• Follow up all quotations within 48 hours.
• Maintain accurate CRM records and sales activity.
• Monitor account performance, opportunities and pipeline development.
• Work with internal departments to resolve customer, stock, delivery and service issues.
