Job summary

Macildowie Recruitment and Retention is helping a Long Eaton-based client recruit an experienced Credit Controller into a busy finance team. The role focuses on owning B2B creditor accounts, resolving disputes, and ensuring timely debt collection in an asset-based business.

Key responsibilities include managing a personal portfolio, chasing overdue balances, and collaborating with operations to resolve queries. This is a permanent, full-time, office-based opportunity with standard hours.

Qualifications

• Previous B2B Credit Control experience.
• Experience within equipment or asset-based environments (hire, rental, construction, logistics, engineering).
• Confidence handling disputes and challenging conversations.
• Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Professional and commercially focused when dealing with complex accounts.
• Good organisation and attention to detail.
• Proactive approach and ownership of ledger.

Responsibilities

• Proactively chasing outstanding B2B debt by telephone and email.
• Managing your own portfolio of customer accounts.
• Investigating and resolving invoice and payment disputes.
• Handling queries relating to hire agreements, damage charges, breakdowns and other contractual costs.
• Building effective relationships with customers while maintaining a firm debt-collection approach.
• Working with operations and commercial teams to resolve account queries.
• Monitoring aged debt and prioritising accounts needing action.
• Agreeing and following up payment commitments.
• Maintaining accurate customer account and collection records.
• Escalating complex or higher-risk accounts when appropriate.
