Job summary

Altus Group is building modern, AWS-native platforms and is seeking a hands-on Tech Lead who combines strong engineering expertise with technical leadership. This role serves as a senior technical voice on the team, responsible for writing and reviewing production code, driving architectural decisions, and owning mission-critical services end-to-end.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Tech Lead or senior engineer owning production systems.
• Strong hands-on AWS experience and cloud-native architecture.
• Proficiency in at least one modern language (Python, Java, Node.js).
• Deep understanding of system design, APIs and data modeling.
• Experience with IaC (Terraform) and CI/CD tooling.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration in Agile teams.

Responsibilities

• Own system design for complex, high-impact initiatives from analysis through implementation.
• Take end-to-end ownership of mission-critical services, ensuring reliability and scalability.
• Manage and reduce technical debt strategically.
• Design cost-efficient, cloud-native solutions.
• Set and uphold standards for code quality, testing, observability, security, and docs.
• Champion automated testing and shift-left quality practices.
• Promote DevSecOps to embed security into development.
• Lead code reviews, design docs, and project retrospectives.
• Drive delivery of complex, multi-phase initiatives.
• Shape technical roadmap with PMs and Architects; translate business needs into solutions.
• Identify risks early and remove blockers.
• Build and evolve AWS-based systems; manage IaC and CI/CD pipelines.
• Support incident response and reliability improvements.
• Provide mentorship and assist hiring/onboarding of engineers.
• Encourage AI-assisted development tools adoption.
