Job summary

IBM Consulting is seeking an AWS DevOps Engineer to deliver cloud migration, modernisation, and adoption initiatives for public sector clients using AWS and DevOps practices. You will collaborate across development, infrastructure, security, and client teams to build secure, scalable cloud solutions.

The role requires strong AWS, Terraform, Jenkins, and containerization experience, with a focus on automation and continuous improvement within an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with AWS cloud services and DevOps practices.
• Hands-on experience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, with knowledge of Jenkins and Git-based workflows.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and configuration management tools such as Ansible.
• Knowledge of scripting and automation using Bash/Shell and ANT.
• Experience with Git, Docker, and Liquibase for source control, containerisation, and database deployment automation.
• Experience working with JIRA and Confluence within Agile delivery environments.

Responsibilities

• AWS Infrastructure: Build, deploy, configure, and maintain AWS environments and services using Infrastructure as Code.
• Cloud Migration: Support the migration and modernisation of applications and workloads onto AWS.
• CI/CD & Automation: Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployments, and operational tooling.
• Infrastructure & Security: Implement scalable, resilient, and secure solutions aligned with IBM and public sector standards.
• Monitoring & Operations: Monitor AWS environments, troubleshoot issues, and maintain service reliability and performance.
• Incident Management: Lead incident resolution, root cause analysis, and corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve automation, processes, infrastructure, and overall customer outcomes.
