Job summary

IBM Consulting is seeking an AWS DevOps Engineer to deliver cloud migration, modernisation, and adoption initiatives for public sector clients, using AWS and DevOps practices. Working across development, infrastructure, security, and client teams, you will build secure, scalable cloud solutions.

You will establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automate deployments, and apply IaC using Terraform and Ansible, with Jenkins, Git, Docker, and Liquibase supporting automation and governance.

Qualifications

• Strong AWS cloud services and DevOps practices, including automation, deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins and Git workflows.
• Proficiency with IaC using Terraform and configuration management such as Ansible.
• Scripting with Bash/Shell and ANT; experience with Git, Docker, Liquibase.
• Knowledge of Jira and Confluence within Agile delivery environments.
• Knowledge of core AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, Lambda, RDS, ECS/EKS).
• Understanding of DevOps principles, monitoring, incident management, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• AWS Infrastructure: Build, deploy, configure, and maintain AWS environments with IaC.
• Cloud Migration: Support migration and modernisation of applications onto AWS.
• CI/CD & Automation: Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated testing and deployments.
• Infrastructure & Security: Implement scalable, secure solutions aligned with standards.
• Monitoring & Operations: Monitor AWS environments and troubleshoot issues to ensure performance.
• Incident Management: Lead incident resolution and root-cause analyses.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve automation and processes.
