Job summary

IBM Consulting UK FutureNow is seeking a Senior AWS Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and support scalable cloud and on‑premise infrastructure. You will drive secure Linux-based environments for public sector and defence customers, ensuring governance and operational excellence.

You’ll lead design, automation, and integration of AWS services (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3) with Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation, while mentoring engineers and advancing IaC maturity.

Qualifications

• Strong experience administering enterprise Linux environments.
• Broad infrastructure knowledge across Linux, Windows, networking, middleware, and systems integration.
• Proven experience delivering resilient infrastructure solutions within complex enterprise environments.
• Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) provisioning and automated environment deployment using Terraform and related automation tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation, and support of secure AWS infrastructure platforms with a focus on Linux systems and enterprise services.
• Design and manage AWS services including EC2, VPCs, IAM, Route53, CloudWatch, S3, EBS, and load balancers.
• Manage Linux server environments with high availability, patching, and security compliance.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate AWS infrastructure into CI/CD pipelines and operations models.
• Contribute to infrastructure automation initiatives using IaC and tools like Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation.
• Support containerised workloads and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, Docker, and CRI-O.
• Monitor health, security, and capacity using Splunk and CloudWatch; support DR and resilience.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical standards and roadmaps.
