Job summary

Optime Group is seeking a proactive Ground Handler to join Farnborough Airport on a permanent, full-time basis. You will marshal aircraft, refuel, assist passengers, and support the Ground Handling team to deliver a high-quality service.

The role requires flexibility across shifts, strong customer service, and the ability to work safely in a busy aviation environment. Optime Group acts as the employment agency for this vacancy.

Qualifications

• Strong work ethic and proactive, can-do attitude.
• Evidence of Right to Work in the UK.
• Full 5-year employment/educational history with no gaps.
• Able to obtain a clear CRC certificate for security clearance.
• Hold a full valid UK Driving Licence or equivalent.
• Flexible work across shift patterns including holidays and weekends.
• Able to lift passengers' bags and oversize items >20kg.
• Meet requirements to obtain an Airside Driving Permit.
• Excellent literacy and numeracy with ability to interpret calculations.
• Strong verbal and written communication; competent IT user.
• Pro-active and able to work under own initiative and as part of a team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with colleagues, crew and customers.
• Remain calm and professional in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide an efficient marshalling service to arriving aircraft.
• Perform aircraft pushback, towing and maneuvering into/out of hangars.
• Carry out manual handling of heavy objects per safety rules.
• Refuel aircraft and monitor fuel quality control.
• Service aircraft toilets and water supplies safely and efficiently.
• Handle baggage loading/unloading, including oversized items.
• De-ice aircraft and perform quality control during de-icing.
• Assist in adverse weather and emergency responses.
• Provide special assistance to passengers and live animals.
• Support crew and Customer Services as needed.
• Communicate clearly via radio and electronic systems.
• Carry out pre-use equipment inspections.
• Maintain Ground Service Equipment (GSE) and assist in its upkeep.
• Complete training and stay updated on policies and safety standards.
• Align with company values and participate in volunteering where possible.
• Adhere to Health & Safety, GDPR, and environmental standards.
