Job summary

Saab UK is seeking a Flight Control Systems Engineer to develop, test and deploy safety-critical flight software for UAV/autonomy systems. You will run requirements reviews, craft control laws in MATLAB/Simulink, and verify with bespoke simulations before real-world flight tests at our facility near Bedfordshire.

Qualifications

• Essential degree in aerospace engineering or similar.
• Understanding of aerodynamics and flight mechanics impact on flight control.
• Experience using MATLAB/Simulink for developing control algorithms.
• Hands-on experience in designing and commissioning control systems.
• Existing SC Clearance is required or ability to obtain.
• Desirable: GN&C algorithms for fixed/rotary wing vehicles; sensing systems knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and test safety-critical software for flight systems.
• Contribute to requirements definition and use MATLAB/Simulink for algorithms.
• Verify/validate via bespoke simulations; deploy to target hardware.
• Conduct real-world flight testing at the test facility near the office.
• Present testing findings in reports or customer-facing presentations.
• Collaborate in multidisciplinary team and improve SOPs and methods.
